Apply for Leadership Positions
The success of SAS is dependent upon the collective effort of its members. Without members stepping up to the challenge of leadership positions, we wouldn’t be able to accomplish as much as we have. Not only would you be helping the organization, but you will be earning valuable experience that can build your resume.
In order to apply for Executive Officer or Committee positions, make sure to be on the lookout for SAS elections held at the end of the semester.
Executive Officer Positions
Running for an executive officer position is an excellent way to be involved with the club, while at the same time building experience for your resume as well as valuable connections. At the Student Accounting Society, numerous positions including Vice President, VP of Finance, VP of Professional Development, and more are open for members to apply and run for. We thank you for your interest in these positions, and hope to see you run from any of these during officer elections held at the end of each semester!
President
The president of the Student Accounting Society serves as the primary leader and representative for the organization. This position focuses on leading the executive board, overseeing the organization’s operations, and ensuring all initiatives align with the organization’s missions and goals. The President acts as the face for the organization to the campus community, professional partners, and external organizations.
Duties of the President include, but are not limited to:
- Ensures the duties of all executive officers are performed correctly and efficiently
- Handles administrative responsibilities for the organization
- Fosters relationships between the organization, campus, and the community as a whole
- Runs general and executive board meetings
- Plans and executes Meet the Firms

Executive Vice President
The Executive Vice President supports the President in overseeing the organization’s functions and assists in maintaining smooth collaboration among the executive board. This role helps to ensure continuity and leadership development within the organization.
Duties of the Executive Vice President include, but are not limited to:
- Runs and organizes professional development workshops and programs, including the Resume and Mock Interview workshops and the Mentorship program
- Presides at organization meetings in the absence of the President
- Provides support to the President and entire executive board
- Attends weekly College of Business Council (CBC) meetings
- Serves as the president-elect; prepares for duties of becoming President the next semester

Vice President of Finance
The Vice President of Finance handles all financial affairs and budgeting of the organization. This position ensures all organization funds are properly managed, recorded, and allocated to support the club’s operations, events, and initiatives in an organized manner.
Duties of the Vice President of Finance include, but are not limited to:
- Handles all financial affairs and budgeting of the organization
- Maintains all necessary accounting records, and prepares monthly financial reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Maintains a record of all financial transactions for the organization, including weekly catering and social event costs
- Handles online payments, including AS banking payments
- Utilizes AS banking for cash, checks, and reimbursements
- Works with members to provide apparel for fundraising points
- Performs monthly reconciliations of bank accounts with the President and Executive Vice President

Vice President of Membership
The Vice President of Membership is responsible for managing all aspects of member engagement and records. This role focuses on fostering a positive member experience with all members of the organization, ensuring accurate membership point tracking, and promoting active participation within the organization.
Duties of the Vice President of Membership include, but are not limited to:
- Monitors and tracks membership status
- Provides necessary information for semester dues and the active member point system
- Coordinates tabling and speaking events on-campus
- Holds the primary responsibility in developing active status requirement metrics, update membership records for the organization, and resolve discrepancies as required

Vice President of Internal Audit
The Vice President of Internal Audit ensures organizational accountability and record accuracy. This role focuses on maintaining documentation, monitoring internal processes, and supporting transparency in the organization’s financial and administrative operations.
Duties of the Vice President of Internal Audit include, but are not limited to:
- Prepares weekly meeting minutes and PowerPoint slides
- Records and updates cash flows for the organization
- Collects all dues and fees for the organization per established organization financial procedures
- Primary person in charge of cash handling with respect to all activities of the organization
- Leads the Internal Audit Committee (in applicable semesters)

Vice President of Professional Development
The Vice President of Professional Development is the primary connection between professional firms and organizations. This role focuses on coordinating with industry representatives and facilitating interaction with invited speakers and organizations.
Duties of the Vice President of Professional Development include, but are not limited to:
- The primary connection between professional organizations and the Student Accounting Society
- Responsible for coordinating weekly meetings, including the planning of meeting catering, facilitating speaker discussion topics, obtaining parking passes for professionals, and escorting speakers to meeting venues
- Updates the Student Accounting Society professional contact list
- Organizes list of professional opportunities for members
- Maintains list of professional guides and is the foremost point of contact for members in preparation for career development events and opportunities, such as Meet the Firms and internships

Vice President of Communications
The Vice President of Communications is the Student Accounting Society’s foremost point of connection for organization members and the general public. This role focuses on maintaining effective communication between the executive board, members, and external audiences through verbal and written communications, newsletters, and social media and digital platforms.
Duties of the Vice President of Communications include, but are not limited to:
- Facilitates all official communications regarding every aspect of the organization and membership
- Maintains and updates the Student Accounting Society website on a regular basis. Website duties include, but are not limited to:
- Updating the event calendar
- Publishing weekly minutes and PowerPoint slides
- Maintaining an archive of all organization communications
- Uploading photos and detailed accounts of events, activities, and development workshops
- Ensures members are up to date on all activities and events involving the organization
- Manages email list and composes weekly newsletters
- Manages social media platforms including, but not limited to:
- Linktree
- Twitter/X
- GroupMe
- Coordinates professional photograph opportunities
- Creates graphics, posters, and flyers for organization meetings and activities
Preferred: Experience with WordPress/HTML and graphic design

Vice President of Activities
The Vice President of Activities leads the planning and coordination of the organization’s social and community engagement events. This role aims to strengthen member relationships, encourage involvement, and enhance the club’s presence within the community through regular events, activities, and socials.
Duties of the Vice President of Activities include, but are not limited to:
- Organizes all social and community service events
- Responsible for organizing sufficient opportunities for Student Accounting Society members to attain active member status
- Expected to attend as many of the scheduled member opportunities as possible, or secure the attendance of another office as proxy
- Works with other board members for the end-of-semester banquet
- Provides a comprehensive calendar of events for the semester

Committee Positions
Throughout the semester, the Student Accounting Society holds various events, including Meet the Firms, mock interview sessions, and peer mentorships. Members being a part of committees is integral to the success of each committee and to the success of SAS as a whole, so we encourage all members to consider applying to one of our committees.

- Meet the Firms Committee
- Duties: Must be available before and/or during Meet the Firms
- Organize and set up Meet the Firms
- Must have a flexible schedule in order to best plan Meet the Firms
- Mock Interview Committee
- Duties: Will interview potential interviewees, give them feedback, and help the Executive Vice President improve the Mock Interview Program.
- Internal Audit Committee
- Duties: Will audit the internal procedures of SAS and create a report to aid in the transition from one administration to the next. Internal Audit Committee meetings will be based on committee member’s availability. To apply, please also send in your availability to hold IAC meetings.
- Professional Development Committee
- Duties: Draft engagement emails with professionals and plan meetings. This is a great opportunity for you to gain networking skills by interacting with professionals and members.
- Peer Mentor Committee
- Duties: Be a mentor to fellow members! Use your experience and knowledge to help guide the mentee and answer any questions they may have. This is a great way for members to meet new people and make connections in and out of the classroom!
